Generating curvature perturbations with or without MSSM flat directions

چکیده
We consider instant preheating as the mechanism for generating the curvature perturbation at the end of chaotic inflation. Then we examine if inflation could be driven by a Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) flat direction or a sneutrino. Our simple mechanism relaxes some serious constraints that appeared in past studies, making inflation driven by a MSSM flat direction or a sneutrino more plausible.

Generating curvature perturbations with MSSM flat directions
We consider the possibility that chaotic inflation is driven by a Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) flat direction or a sneutrino. The discrepancy between our present study and past studies is in the mechanism for generating the curvature perturbations. We consider curvature perturbations generated by instant preheating at the end of inflation, instead of a conventional curvature per...
متن کاملChallenges in generating density perturbations from a fluctuating inflaton coupling
Inflation is the main contender for an explanation of the observed adiabatic density perturbations with a nearly scale invariant spectrum [1]. However, recently alternative mechanisms for generating the density perturbations have also been much discussed. In the curvaton scenario, iscocurvature perturbations of some light “curvaton” field are converted into adiabatic perturbations in the post-i...
متن کاملCosmological consequences of MSSM flat directions
We review the cosmological implications of the flat directions of the Minimally Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We describe how field condensates are created along the flat directions because of inflationary fluctuations. The post-inflationary dynamical evolution of the field condensate can charge up the condensate with B or L in a process known as Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. Condensate fl...
متن کاملMSSM curvaton in the gauge - mediated SUSY breaking
We study the curvaton scenario using the MSSM flat directions in the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking model. We find that the fluctuations in the both radial and phase directions can be responsible for the density perturbations in the universe through the curvaton mechanism. Although it has been considered difficult to have a successful curvaton scenario with the use of those flat directions, it is...
متن کاملFlat direction condensate instabilities in the MSSM
Coherently oscillating scalar condensates formed along flat directions of the MSSM scalar potential are unstable with respect to spatial perturbations if the potential is flatter than φ2, resulting in the formation of non-topological solitons such as Q-balls. Using the renormalization group we calculate the corrections to the φ2 potential for a range of flat directions and show that unstable co...
